New Italian Pizza Concept to Launch in Columbus, IN This Winter

Columbus, IN – Blacksheep, a new venture from Upland Hospitality Group, is an innovative pizza concept set to open its first location in Columbus, Indiana this winter. This new restaurant offers lunch and dinner centered around a large wood-fired oven. 

“We vision Blacksheep as a place first and foremost, not just a brand or a pizza,” says Joshua Ratliff, project manager for the concept and Columbus native. “It’s a place that uses great food and bold drinks to welcome the outsider in all of us.”

The restaurant is located downtown at the corner of 4th and Washington Streets in the Historic Commons Mall. Guests are invited into the high-touch interior, designed by the Parallel Design Group. Parallel specializes in strong minimal design and has completed many restaurant projects in central Indiana. Blacksheep boasts an elegant bar area and an 80-seat dining room with an open kitchen.

Centered around familiar classics elevated by a unique touch, the menu features scratch-made Neapolitan pizza, setting itself apart with elegant lunch salads and rustic dinner entrees. Blacksheep will also highlight off-the-beaten path Italian treats like oversized piadina sandwiches, spiedini beef skewers, and smoked burrata cheese. The food is complemented by a beverage menu featuring bonafide cocktails, an all-Italian wine list, and craft beers all selected by Ratliff, a Member of the Guild of Master Sommeliers.

In addition to the Columbus location, Blacksheep plans to expand with several units across Indiana in the near future. This expansion aims to bring the same high-quality dining experience and innovative flavors to more communities throughout the state.

“Over 2 decades we’ve come to believe the lessons we’ve learned from our Upland patrons. Especially post-COVID, and on through to whatever happens next, we see people tend to still have an affectionate need or an open place in their busy weeks for a great sit-down meal.”, explains Padraig Cullen, Vice President of Upland Hospitality. “We want to be there to help make communities more livable and lovable by serving that need.”
